Incidence of head trauma might be as high as 1,850 per 100,000. Falls are the #1 cause of head injuries in children under the age of 9. Accidental head trauma is a relatively common injury in toddlers. Young kids are likely to hurt their head because they are still unstable on their feet and often test their limits. In toddlers and young children who don’t have the verbal skills of an adult, information to diagnose a concussion can be difficult to obtain.

OTHER PAST CONFERENCES

10th Global Conference on Health Promotion: Health Promotion for Well-being, Equity and Sustainable Development

December 13-15, 2021 | UAE

On 13-15 December 2021 WHO will hold the 10th Global Conference on Health Promotion with the support the United Arab Emirates, UN agencies and partners. The conference will be organized to address how health promotion can advance well-being. Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve, their health. Health promotion is about creating the conditions and healthy environments for people where they live, work, age and play. Thus, the concept of well-being is increasingly used in Member States to reflect the indivisibility of sustainable development goals. As defined in the WHO Constitution, health is “a state of complete physical, mental and socialwell-being and not merely the absence ofdisease or infirmity”, WHO has never addressed the issue as a theme of a major conference. At the end of the conference, participants will issue a political statement with key requirements for governments to adopt and adapt an expanded health promotion approach to advance well-being.

World Psychiatrists and Psychologists Conference

November 15-16, 2021 | Netherlands

At no time in living memory had mental health been a more pressing concern. The COVID-19 pandemic and its calamitous economic consequences threaten us with a tsunami wave of psychological dysfunctions the likes of which we had never encountered before: mood disorders (especially depression), anxiety disorders, exacerbated personality disorders, and, in extremis, psychotic disorders. And this is not to mention the crests of addictions, substance abuse, child abuse, aggression, and domestic violence. We are ill prepared for this challenge: we lack the capacity, the funding, the training, the manpower, the institutions, the cultural sensitivity, and the resilience (because mental health practitioners are also human). Conferences like “World Psychiatrists & Psychologists conference” rush to the breach, to selflessly fill in the gap. It allows us, who are in the front lines of this impending doom, to regroup, exchange ideas, and be exposed to cutting edge research. We feel that we are not alone in our predicament and this gives us the strength to persevere. I wish you all an edifying and transformative day. Do join during November 15-16, 2021 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
