Epic Systems has made a breakthrough in healthcare interoperability by connecting 625 hospitals to the TEFCA framework within a year. This effort enhances seamless data exchange, improving care for millions across the U.S. Epic Nexus, a TEFCA Qualified Health Information Network, has connected 625 hospitals since joining the framework in December 2023.
TEFCA (Trusted Exchange Framework and the Common Agreement) is a nationwide framework for secure medical records exchange. It was authorized under the bipartisan 21st Century Cures Act as part of congressional efforts to establish universal interoperability. TherapyNotes will automatically send the required data when relevant notes are signed by a participating clinician.
