When Sidney and Lois Eskenazi elected in 2011 to make their $40 million gift to help build a new safety-net hospital in Indianapolis, the goal was to fashion a best-in-the-nation public health care system capable of delivering the highest standards of preventive and clinical care to the people of Marion County — to serve as a health care model for the nation.
