Migraine Fact Sheet

Migraine is a neurological disorder characterized by an intense headache, in the presence of other symptoms, that can last for hours or days at a time and is sometimes crippling. In fact, migraine ranks as one of the top 20 most disabling conditions in the world.1 Migraine is considered chronic if headache occurs 15 or more days per month for three or more consecutive months. Intractable chronic migraine is defined as headache lasting at least four hours per day for 15 or more days per month, causing at least moderate disability, and not responding to three or more preventive drugs.
