Video API Powers Telemedicine Companies During COVID-19

Cloud communication company Vonage returning higher demand for its video application program interface (API) as telemedicine companies leverage the technology to facilitate virtual visits during the COVID-19 pandemic. While video conferencing has been in the headlines of late, the growth in video-based applications is even more important. In particular, video-based applications are powering essential telehealth services during this public health crisis,” Alan Masarek, Vonage CEO, said in the announcement. Telemedicine has been key to combating COVID-19. Hospitals are at or are nearing capacity as the number of confirmed cases continues to soar. Virtual visits and online communications are helping providers free up physical capacity for patients who need it more, while ensuring all who need care are receiving medical attention without increasing exposure to the novel coronavirus.
