1 in 5 have ‘red flag’ bowel cancer symptoms before going to A&E

Around a fifth of people diagnosed with bowel cancer in A&E say they’ve had ‘red flag’ symptoms in the year leading up to diagnosis, a new study claims. And worryingly, many of these patients had visited their doctor repeatedly in the 12 months leading up to their diagnosis, suggesting a number of missed opportunities to catch the disease earlier.
