Oncologic emergencies is becoming a rapidly evolving field in medicine over the last 10+ years. In addition to treating complications related to standard/traditional chemotherapies, the development of numerous new cancer treatment modalities present a whole new field of patient complaints that are just now starting to be seen in emergency rooms across the country. With very few dedicated cancer hospital emergency rooms, patients presenting with cancer emergencies are often inappropriately triaged, diagnosed, undertreated, or often simply referred back to their respective oncologists without resolution of their emergent issues.
