Unions voice fears over increase in locums at Wellington Hospital
A surge in spending on temporary medical staff at Wellington Hospital could have "tragic consequences" for patients, with the amount topping $5 million over the past 10 months.
Figures released under the Official Information Act show Capital & Coast District Health Board has spent nearly $5.2m on locums over the 10 months to April this year.
That figure is up from $3.9m spent during the July 2013 to June 2014 period, and $4.5m between 2014-15.
