Tech tools that promote patient empowerment

This year, the number of e-visits to primary care physicians is expected to reach 100 million people worldwide. For communicators, that’s just the tip of the IT iceberg. Patient portals, remote monitoring and data analytics are the big influencers in telemedicine. A new infographic from CDW Healthcare says patients have come to expect more technology integrated into their health care. As a result, patient empowerment must be a priority for communicators. Consider these statistics: E-visits to primary care docs could save $5 billion this year.  One in three patients has used a portal to connect with a doctor. Seventy percent of patients say portals are a convenient way to communicate with physicians.
