More than three million Americans are diagnosed per year and are increasing with the rise of obesity. Those considering bariatric surgery, who also have Type 2 Diabetes, should consider the benefits of weight-loss surgery. “Although small trials have shown benefits to blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes and high BMI, there isn’t enough evidence for people with BMIs lower than 35,” from the American Diabetes Association.
