XRHealth and Allscripts Partner to Bring VR Solutions to EHRs

A new partnership between XRHealth and Allscripts will extend virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) solutions to electronic health records (EHRs), the companies announced today. “The bottom line is that any Allscripts customer can now very easily have VR/AR application integration directly into their EHR,” Eran Orr, MBA, CEO of XRHealth, told Inside Digital Health™. XRHealth, formerly known as VRHealth, offers solutions to hospitals, healthcare facilities and patients which help alleviate pain, improve motor function, assess cognitive function and encourage overall wellness. “We believe that because the EHR is such an integral part of the physician’s day-to-day activity, if we want to really implement VR/AR as a medical device, it must be plugged into their workflow,” Orr said. Allscripts, a healthcare information technology company, has an app store and through its Developer Program, outsources different digital and medical applications and devices to work with, he said. Through the partnership, if an Allscripts customer wants to use VR, they would reach out to XRHealth through the program and get access to the platform. The technology can even be used remotely, he said, so providers can remotely monitor patients. The data from the platform are collected and sent right to the EHR.
