Nation enters enterovirus peak season amid sharp growth
TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan has entered the peak season for enterovirus infections, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Director General Kuo Hsu-sung said on Tuesday, expecting to set up higher level command centers in the near future.If enterovirus 71 (EV71) becomes the dominant virus strain, the CDC will set up a central command center, Kuo said. Though, if the virus leads to deaths or the outbreak brings about complications, the center will be upgraded to an Executive Yuan-level.
