Mercy Hospital healthcare wokers vote in favor of strike authorization

Members of CWA Local 1133 employed at Mercy Hospital announced they have voted in favor of the ability to call a strike. Out of those who voted Monday and Tuesday, 96 percent voted to strike, according to a CWA spokesperson. Union representatives say they are not satisfied with the hospital’s recent contract offer and they hope to negotiate a new deal. Although the vote gives the union authorization to call a strike, it will not necessarily lead to one.
