CipherHealth and SADA Collaborate to Improve Patient Care Via Looker

CipherHealth and SADA
CipherHealth, a leader in patient engagement technology and communication solutions, recently teamed up with SADA, an award-winning Google Cloud Partner, to use Google Cloud's Looker to collect socioeconomic data to improve patient care.

With this new feature, CipherHealth aims to empower healthcare leaders by enabling them to collect large volumes of data and assist patients and medical professionals at each point of the care journey.

Earlier, CipherHealth's platform gave doctors and nurses complete conversational and clinical information about each patient. It worked with SADA, a company that knows how to set up and run Google Cloud's analytics platform Looker, to add self-service analytics to the platform and make it more useful. With the help of Looker Embedded Analytics, CipherHealth has made it easier for its clients to access this data for analysis and visualization at any time during the patient's life.

As a result of the partnership, CipherHealth's clients, which include 500 hospitals across the country, will now have access to patient data about social determinants of health (SDOH). Also, they can use in-built analytics to divide patient groups and send personalized messages to each of them separately.

With this information, CipherHealth's clients can zero in on a specific patient and find out what kind of treatment they need, along with any special accommodations (like if they have trouble making appointments).

CipherHealth is HIPAA-compliant, meaning it may safely analyze and transfer clients' protected health information (PHI) over the internet.

The company believes combining SADA with Google Cloud can give its clients a new view of their patient populations. It will also allow the company to make changes to its care delivery that are good for patients. In line with this, SADA said that the integration of Looker from Google Cloud improves the patient experience for CipherHealth and its clients.

Kaiser Permanente Announces New Grant Program for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Health Care

PRNewswire | May 18, 2023

The Permanente Medical Group announced the launch of the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research (KP-DOR) Augmented Intelligence in Medicine and Healthcare Initiative (AIM-HI) Coordinating Center. The new program will lead a national research effort focused on evaluating the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms to enhance diagnostic decision-making in health care. With support from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, AIM-HI will award grants of up to $750,000 for three to five U.S. health care systems to support the use of AI and ML to improve diagnoses and patient outcomes. AI and ML have shown promise in early warning systems that analyze hospital patients' data to identify when patients are at risk of serious decline and may need intervention; large language models similar to ChatGPT that streamline medical record notetaking; and computer vision technology to analyze medical images for tumors, cancers and surgical guidance. "We're aiming to cut through the buzz around AI in health care to prove the promise and positive impact of this exciting technology for improving patient outcomes," said Vincent Liu, MD, principal investigator of AIM-HI. "In addition to supporting algorithmic research, the AIM-HI program will develop best practices, and improve the capacity for AI/ML deployment in diverse health care settings. It's vital that we use these powerful tools thoughtfully and in a way that scales to benefit patients, physicians and care teams." The request for proposals is now open and letters of intent are due June 30, 2023. A national advisory committee and expert reviewers from Kaiser Permanente will assess proposals and work closely with the selected project teams during their 2-year grant period. "At Kaiser Permanente, we've demonstrated the real-world benefits of AI and ML with groundbreaking algorithms," said Stephen Parodi, MD, executive vice president of The Permanente Federation. "Our early warning systems are at work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to identify high-risk hospitalized patients. One of these programs has saved an estimated 500 lives a year. With this initiative we hope to support the spread of impactful work in health systems of all sizes across the country." About The Permanente Federation The Permanente Federation LLC is the national leadership and consulting organization for the 8 Permanente Medical Groups, which, together with the Kaiser Foundation Health Plans and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, comprise Kaiser Permanente. AppliedVR Partners with Lovell to Better Serve Government Healthcare Systems

Prnewswire | April 13, 2023

Lovell® Government Services announced a partnership today with AppliedVR, a leader in immersive therapeutics that use virtual reality to be its federal distribution partner to support sales through government healthcare systems like the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the Military Health System, and Indian Health Services. Founded in 2013, Lovell Government Services is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business and trusted federal vendor. It partners with medical, dental, and pharmaceutical companies that want to better serve Veteran and military patient populations, increase their federal revenue stream, and win more government contracts. The company is a two-time Inc. 5000 honoree, ranking in the top 10 percent of America's fastest-growing privately owned businesses in 2020 and 2021. AppliedVR is pioneering a novel approach to medicine that leverages immersive therapies. Its flagship product, the RelieVRxTM program, was granted marketing authorization by the FDA in 2021 for chronic lower back pain (CLPB). In a recent clinical follow-up study that evaluated the durable effects of the RelieVRx program six months after treatment, researchers found that the RelieVRx program delivered lasting effects across multiple pain measures, including pain intensity and pain-related interference with activity, mood, sleep, and stress. Many of the results were considered "clinically meaningful," providing key evidence that supports the efficacy of a self-administered, home-based VR treatment program. As AppliedVR's SDVOSB vendor, Lovell can help to expand access to AppliedVR's solutions among federal healthcare providers. Placing products on contract vehicles with an SDVOSB contract holder streamlines the acquisition process while helping government agencies meet their SDVOSB procurement goals. AppliedVR's RelieVRx program has been added to the Department of Veterans Affairs' Federal Supply Schedule (FSS), Defense Logistics Agency's Electronic Catalogue for Medical Supply Chain (ECAT), and the DoD's Distribution and Pricing Agreement (DAPA), which allows government customers to make streamlined purchases. "Lovell is very excited to give Veterans and Service members an alternative to opioids to manage chronic lower back pain through virtual reality. This technology has tremendous potential in the federal space." Chris Lovell, Chief Executive Officer, Lovell Government Services. "Immersive therapeutics hold the potential to deliver safe and effective treatments to millions of people who suffer from chronic pain, and especially for our military service and veteran communities who deserve the most innovative care," said AppliedVR Co-founder and CEO Matthew Stoudt. "We're grateful for our partnership with Lovell, and we look forward to working with them to make the RelieVRx program available to healthcare providers throughout the federal government." ABOUT APPLIEDVR AppliedVR is creating a new reality in healthcare. We are pioneering immersive therapeutics a new category of medicine, to treat intractable health conditions that affect millions of people worldwide. Today, AppliedVR's treatments represent a robust approach to chronic lower back pain (CLBP) that empowers patients with an intuitive device they can self-manage at home. AppliedVR's RelieVRx™ program is the first VR-based, prescription therapeutic to receive Breakthrough Device Designation and De Novo authorization by the FDA for CLBP. AppliedVR's wellness programs have been trusted by more than 200 leading health systems and thousands of healthcare professionals globally, used on more than 60,000 patients.
